Summer Camps 2010

Flatirons Volleyball
Club offers camps geared toward beginning and
intermediate girls between the ages of 9 and 16.
Camps will be taught by Flatirons coaches and former
players who are current college players. Campers are
recommended to sign up for all sessions. If campers
cannot attend all sessions, they may attend as
many as possible. Campers should wear shorts, T
shirt, good court shoes and bring a secure water
bottle. Head Coach: Schanell Niederworder
Week 1: June 7 - 10
Monday: Passing and Serving Camp
3:30 – 6:00 pm The two most important and
fundamental skills in volleyball are passing and
serving. These skills will be introduced and
practiced. Basic, proven techniques will be
emphasized. Campers will be divided into groups
based on experience and ability.
Tuesday: Hitting and Blocking Camp 3:30
– 6:00 pm During this session, campers will learn
how to attack the ball under a variety of
circumstances. Blocking an attacked ball will also
be discussed. Campers will be divided into groups
based on experience and ability.
Wednesday: Setting Camp 3:30 – 6:00 pm
During this session, campers will learn how to
properly execute the second hit, the set.
Fundamental techniques will be taught. Campers will
be divided into groups based on experience and
ability.
Thursday: Mini Games Camp
3:30 – 6:00 pm During this session, campers
will play volleyball adapted mini-games such as
baseball, queens, wash games and more. Campers will
be grouped based on experience and ability.
Week 2: June 14 –
17
Monday: Skills and More Skills
3:30 – 6:00 pm Campers will learn the basic
skills of volleyball. Fundamental techniques for
passing, setting, serving and attacking will be
taught. Campers will be grouped based on experience
and ability.
Tuesday: Hit it Over
Camp 3:30 – 6:00 pm The Hit It Over
Camp will teach athletes how to get the ball over
the net under varying conditions such as out of
system plays, from different locations on the court
and sets of various heights and speeds. Campers will
be grouped based on experience and ability.
Wednesday: Strategies of the Game
3:30 – 6:00 pm Basic offensive and defensive
strategies will be taught and practiced in this camp
session. Campers will be grouped based on experience
and ability.
Thursday: Play Play
Play 3:30 – 6:00 pm This camp is the
culmination of all the previous camp sessions.
Campers will put all the skills together and play
against each other with guidance from camp coaches.

to register for. Camp T-shirts are adult sizes.
Camp sessions will be held at Eldorado K-8
School in Superior and are $30 each.
